Lovely 3 Month Old Puppy Available

Leia has been my favorite puppy almost from the moment she was born. As she has grown, she has shown to be very intelligent, sweet and loves people. She would be an excellent obedience prospect. She is not a high drive Cardigan, so she is not in need of a busy life, but is very biddable. She would do best in a household with maybe one other dog. Some Cardigans are very assertive about getting attention, but Leia can get lost in the shuffle a by because she is so sweet and laid back. She is not shy, but just non-domanent. She is DM clear, clear for PRA, carries fluff, and her sire is OFA Fair and Dam is OFA Good. It was a very difficult decision decideding to find her a home, but as she is growing, I have found that she is not going to be the most ideal show prospect of the 3 girls I had been growing on. This is always a difficult decision to place a puppy in her forever home. Applications will be screened carefully.

Please email me at annekowalczyk@me.com with any questions.

She is lovely!

Puppy Available/Our Busy Year

****Update, Spider Man has gone to his new home 7/28/17***
We have had a busy year here with puppies! After two years with no puppies, we had two litters and that kept us pretty busy over the summer. I am exhausted, but hopeful. I decided on my keeper from our TimberxNaveen litter, but still deciding on my HolmesxThatcher girl.

One of the things I take great care in is the placement of my puppies in the right homes. One of the homes that I had planned did not turn out to be a good fit for my puppies, and so this this boy will be available to a pet home on limited registration. He has a lot of energy, and is very sweet, but also independent. He is not going to be an excessively drivey dog, but he will make a very good best friend for someone.

Spider Man is out of our HolmesxThatcher litter. Holmes is GCH C-Myste the Games Afoot at Elyan CGC TDI RN BN CD and Thatcher is Ataraxis Fox Confessor (TimberDory). Both sire and dam are OFA Good, and these puppies will not be at risk for DM (Holmes clear, Thatcher a carrier); both parents PRA clear. Spider Man will just be 8 weeks this week, so he will go home when he finds the perfect fit. He is a beautiful tan pointed black and white. Please fill out our application on our page if  you are interested in Spider Man.

Introducing our “Star Wars” Litter…

TimberxNaveen babies were born yesterday, May 17th.  I can’t thank my fellow breeders enough for all the advice I received while I was home with the kids whelping puppies by myself! Thank heavens for my sitter and her sister!!

We lost our little white headed beauty today. My husband was kind enough to bury her under my new Yoshino Cherry Tree, and also plant my tree which I hadn’t had time to plant yet Yoshino means “respectful” in Japanese. Bless her tiny heart.

All puppies are spoken for. Naveen is a wonderful mom, and all the puppies gained today.  Zoey helped me take pictures. Star Wars seemed to fit for this litter, although Smoke was considered as a theme since I almost lit my kitchen on fire warming towels in the microwave (they will BURN if you microwave them for too long – FACT.) For more information about pedigree for this litter, please view the Puppies/Available page (though they already have homes waiting for them!)

May Puppies!

Naveen’s Ultrasound showed puppies just a couple of weeks back, and now today Thatcher (Ataraxis Fox Confessor)’s pregnancy was confirmed! Thatcher is owned my Sean and Sara Reeves and myself. She was bred to Holmes (GCH C-Myste the Games Afoot at Elyan RA CD CGC TDI) and for the first time in 2 years, we will have puppies here! Holmes is owned by Penni Adrian and Ali Lagos.
I can’t wait to see what these lovely dogs produce.

Hopeful for spring puppies!

EDIT***Ultrasound shows puppies on the way!

“Naveen” (Spyrock Ebonwalk Return to Sender, RN)  has been bred to “Timber” (Ch Stormridge Dunes National Forest) and we are hoping for puppies due on May 16th. We are excited about the possibility of these two. Thanks so much to Garrett Ramsey at Ebonwald Cardigans for leasing us this beautiful girl. I am very hopeful for TimberxNaveen puppies. This should be a nice line breeding from two dogs with good temperaments with excellent health testing results. Please e-mail me at ataraxiscardigans@gmail.com for additional information.

Ataraxis Cardigans Mid-Year Update

This year is moving way too fast! I am hoping to be able to catch myself up to speed sometime soon. Dolly (Ataraxis Eagle When She Flies) needs ONE more point to finish her Grand. I looked to see how many; I thought we needed more, but nope! She will be our first homebred Grand Champion. 🙂 Having a set schedule at work, sides regular life sanity, also means that I will be able to start regular obedience classes so Dolly and I can participate in Rally. Our classes start this month. Excited!

Best of Breed in TX

No litters planned here for the time being. Dolly is a DM carrier, but I still need to test her for fluff, CERF, and x-ray her hips and elbows and see what OFA has to see before I would plan something for her. Perhaps Fall of 2016, but that remains to be seen.

Dory is traveling and camping in her retirement home with her owners. I miss her so, so much, but I know she is happy. Her owner Susan is so kind to keep me updated with Dory’s many adventures. Thank you Susan! Here are photos borrowed from Susan’s archive!

And finally, I was able to go visit with Jill, Kim and her lovely litter. The puppies are gorgeous and sweet! Hearts. 🙂 I am in love!

Wonderful Adult Cardigan Available

After many months of debating, rationalizing, and hoping things would change.. they have not. Ula and Dory are the two adult girls in my home, and for quite some time now they have not gotten along. Ula is a very dominant female dog.. and frankly, well, Dory was here first, so it’s been hard for them, particularly over the past year. Ula has become the love of my son’s life, and I cannot deprive him of that, so I have decided in the best interest of Dory, it is time to find her retirement home.

Four years old isn’t very young to retire, so I suppose Dory will be retiring to do more exciting things. I’ve done obedience work with her, so that I could do therapy dog work with her. She is phenomenal at therapy work, and very intuitive. She has never met at stranger. Dory is my first champion, my first grand champion, and my first therapy dog. She is the mother of three lovely litters, and that is plenty of litters for her.

Dory is seeking a home that is within driving distance of Chicago (4-5 hours or less). I would like to be able to meet her family and visit to see if Dory takes to you and your home. Dory is UTD on all her vaccinations (and we follow the Dr. Dodd’s protocols), and she will be spayed when her body has recovered fully from her litter. Her puppies are 7.5 weeks old at this time. Dory loves to run the trails around here in the summer, and then lay on my slippers when I’m reading or working at my desk. Dory would excel in a home interested in doing obedience work, or potentially agility work. She is athletic, and wants to do things that make you happy.

Dory would do best in a home with no other dogs or a male dog. Dory has never had any issues with any other female dogs besides Ula, but since I have to give up my heart dog, I want to make sure she will be in a home that won’t have a chance of having an alpha girl there that might have a problem with Dory. Dory also doesn’t seem to mind cats. She’s pretty cool with most things.

If you are interested in my sweet, special girl, please fill out my puppy application and also send me an email at annekowalczyk@me.com and just let me know why you would specifically be interested in Dory and also what kind of questions you might have.

7 Week Old Puppy Photos/Pupdate

On Sunday I packed 9 puppies, 1 Timber and 1 Oliver in the car and we drove to Kim Hockstetler’s house in Michigan where Jill Rauh met us to go through the Volhard temperament testing with each puppy. I am so pleased and impressed with these puppies. They are going to do so well in their new homes. And as a major bonus, they had no accidents in the crate during out 2.5 hour drive there and back, and no accidents in the house. They all pottied outside for the first time. Starting the litter training at 3.5 weeks seems to have really helped, so I’m hoping they continue with this excellent behavior!

Since I am incredibly tired from the past two days, I just did candids of the puppies. Maybe I will do stacked photos later in the week. I’m very happy with all the homes that the puppies will be going to, and I can’t believe they will start leaving on Monday.

This is our “keeper” from this litter. “Yancy”, Ataraxis Like A Boss. Meko is also staying with us for now and we’ll see how she grows.

Yancy, 7 weeks today.
